This standard describes minimum requirements for six coating systems designed to protect the exterior surfaces of steel pipelines and associated fittings used by the water supply industry in aboveground locations, including surface preparation, coating application, inspection, and testing. The coating systems described may not perform or cost the same, but they are presented so that the appropriate coating system can be selected for the site-specific project requirements.
