This method of test covers the determination of bulk specific gravity of specimens of compacted bituminous mixtures.
This method should be used with samples that contain open or interconnecting voids and/or absorb more than two percent of water by volume, as determined by AASHTO T 166.
The bulk specific gravity of the compacted bituminous mixtures may be used in calculating the unit weight of the mixture.
